Recurrent Locum Tenens Position for Family Practice with ANTHC Provider Network
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has developed a unique opportunity for Primary Care Providers; you can live in Anchorage but practice medicine at one or two Tribal Health Organizations (THOs) throughout the state based on an assignment plan. This opportunity provides our employees with a great Work/Life Balance. THOs are Indian Health Service facilities that provide health care to the Alaska Native and American Indian population. Temporary assignments will be of varying lengths dependent on regional needs requiring periodic absence from Anchorage and travel by air and other forms of reasonable transport. This is a permanent position with benefits and the possibility of also practicing at the ANTHC Campus.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
• Provide a wide range of clinical services to patients while working with clinical staff from THOs across the State.
• Routinely examines medical, obstetric and pediatric patients as defined by his/her privileges and outlines a plan for necessary care including, as appropriate, laboratory tests, x-rays, etc. in outpatient and/or inpatient setting and/or emergency department. May need three deliveries signed off by ANMC prior to starting if providing obstetrical care.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
Knowledge of medical ethics and laws applicable to the practice of medicine.
Knowledge and understanding of the cultures and needs of Alaska Natives and American Indians.
Skill in and ability to provide prenatal care, deliver babies and provide postpartum care to mothers and infants as appropriate to assignment plan.
Ability to inspire confidence and to treat patients and fellow hospital employees with consideration and compassion.
Skill in and ability to provide primary care and treatment to patients with widely divergent medical needs in remote locations including, on occasion, those in need of emergent care due to trauma or life threatening conditions.
