Southwest Alaska is mainly accessible by air, sea and river systems and home to Katmai National Park, the Valley of 10,000 Smokes and the magnificent Aleutian Islands chain. Bristol Bay boasts the world’s largest commercial salmon fishery—which also accounts for one of the largest concentrations of brown bears. There are magnificent river systems (including the Yukon and Kuskokwim) and over a dozen active volcanoes in this remote region with many hidden treasures.

Bethel is located 340 miles west of Anchorage and serves as the central hub for over 50 villages along the Yukon-Kuskokwim River Delta. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is one of the main recruitment resources for healthcare providers in this region.
