Far North

The Far North is an incredibly beautiful region, home to vast herds of caribou as well as the Inupiat Eskimo & Athabascan Indian cultures. The Far North also contains the Brooks Mountain range, Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve and Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve all of which offer visitors a glimpse into tracts of wilderness on a scale unavailable down in the lower 48 states.

With the exception of few communities along the Dalton Highway—recently popularized by the reality TV show Ice Road Truckers– the majority of communities in the Far North are accessible by bush plane, river access or snow machine. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is one of the main recruitment resources for healthcare in this region.
